FLEX Power Base Maintenance Schedule

This state-of-the-art power base is a 208cc OHV, all-season 4-cycle engine. The rugged Latch 'n Lock' system has endured the Troy-Bilt® test of quality, with hundreds of hours of accelerated use - and is fully integrated with a self-propelled transmission for easy operation.

One of the most unique features about the FLEX System is that it only requires minor maintenance of one engine. Preventative maintenance of your FLEX Power Base is the best way to protect your investment for all seasons.

Instructions

Preventative maintenance of your FLEX Power Base is the best way to protect your investment for all seasons. Always be sure to use the genuine parts made specifically for the FLEX System.

  • Oil. During the first 5 hours of operation, it is strongly suggested to change the engine oil. This will help the engine perform it's best and allow for any debris within the engine to be flushed out before the multiple seasons ahead. Continue to inspect the oil every 5 hours and before each use. Also, replace the engine oil every season to help the engine to run smoothly and ensure easy starts each season.
  • Air filter. Inspect the air filter before each use to ensure the air can flow freely throughout the engine, and clean around the engine shroud and muffler to wipe away any debris. Change the air filter every season.
  • Spark plug. Be sure to inspect and then remove the spark plug before performing any type of maintenance on the FLEX Power Base or attachments. Change the spark plug every season.
  • Cooling fins. The FLEX Power Base is an air-cooled engine, and the cooling fins must be free of debris to prevent the engine from overheating. Clean off the engine cooling fins with an air compressor every season.
